Story by Tom Sandford

NMSU students and community members alike were seen sliding down the grassy hill between Aggie stadium and the adjacent practice field while a rare  snowfall blanketed the New Mexico State Campus on Thursday, Dec. 3.

Anything that will go!

Students used saucers, snowboards, toboggans, and pool loungers to speed down the hillside.  Garrett Kleist, a senior in international business, carved up the fresh powder on his snowboard.

“I never thought it would snow like this in Las Cruces,” Kliest said.

Jonathan Folson, another snowboarder and enior in international business, said the snow was very refreshing.

“I’m pretty stoked,” Folsom said.  “It’s a nice way to end the semester.”

The next morning, four NMSU music students played Christmas songs on instruments for passerby in front of Corbett Center to the tune of “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and “Rudolph, the Red-nosed Reindeer,” among others.

When asked why he and the others played,  Abe Uribe, a senior in music,  said, “Just because we love playing and entertaining people.”

One Response to “Aggies live it up and slide it down during snowfall”

Tom’s snow-show is great…captures the elation we all feel when it snows in the Southwest. Made me happy; thank you!
