I wonder how the store is doing now? Nov 2011? Everytime I go over to the location it is dead. I have asked employees "how's business"? they reply slow. With very high priced goodies (2 buck water) and not the only book option for the student (Rental,Chegg, etc) and a $14 million dollar mortgage I wonder? The typical college student dealing with stricter loans guidlines amd has less extra income.

Sometimes you just need a little spark to start a warm fire. This movement is about us taking on the responsibility of unveiling the inequalities that exist in our nation, the world and even on our very own campus. If students are looking to be informed they can rely on their campus either directly or indirectly. The beauty behind demands for change is that the result is never one sided. It's a collaborate of ideas. The day before this event a campus political group was passing out pamphlets and other information about the current economic situation (particulary NMSU's) not related to 'Occupy Campuses'. People are warming up in their own way. The best is yet to come. Paz!

I don't really understand the concern.

The bookstore should stimulate interaction between NMSU and the rest of Las Cruces, and therefore result in more sales (more income) for NMSU - which hopefully will keep tuition lower in the future.

And why shouldn't NMSU plan for future student growth?

This store, by the way, fits perfectly into the NMSU master plan, which attempts to increase pedestrian friendliness of the campus and concentrate parking in larger, but fewer lots. It's a great plan, and strives to make NMSU a more liveable place, instead of another car choken junior college-like campus.

JMHO of course.

I am a brazilian doctor who lived at this house from 1969 to 1971 as part of the Taylor's family.
I will allways be proud of them for what they've done, with the place, with the family and with humanity.
With love,
Jonas A S Thomé, MD
